They have an extensive knowledge of the biodiesel industry and are also the local agents for several foreign developed technologies. The company also performs consultancy within the industry and has advised governments and deployed equipment in neighboring African countries. They are based near Durban, which provides easy access to South Africa’s busiest container port, allowing for rapid dispatching of equipment into the countries interior or for sea cargo export to foreign destinations. SARS Mark McLoughlin Biodiesel became dutiable on 1 April 2006 in terms of S.37B of the customs and excise act and its rules. It is included in chapter 38 of the tariff and is dealt with in the same manner as petrol, diesel and other “Fuel levy products”. As such ALL biodiesel producers must be registered with SARS. They have allowed for three types of producers, non-commercial, commercial category 1(local consumption) and commercial category 2 (export of biodiesel).
We advise producers to visit the SARS web site or to contact Mark and see if they are exempt from payment of certain duties and to submit the required registration documents. They are based in honeydew, but biodiesel producers from across the country can send samples of biodiesel for high quality lab analysis. This product is Amberlite BD 10 Dry, and is designed to completely remove any soap, catalyst tracers, residual glycerine and other unwanted impurities from your biodiesel. Department of Minerals and Energy The DME are responsible for setting new laws and regulations for all liquid fuels that can be used within South Africa. Biodiesel producers fall under these regulations and we advise that all involved in the industry should be familiar with the Petroleum amendment act 2003. |
